Welcome to the Friends page!
A warm welcome to all the new children and families joining Monks Risborough School this year. We hope you and your children enjoy being part of the school and all it has to offer.
Friends of Monks Risborough School is a group of parents, ex-parents, staff and friends of the school, whose role is to provide a series of social and fundraising events during the school year for the children, their families and the local community to enjoy. Every family has membership of The Friends throughout the time their child is at Monks Risborough School. This means they are welcome to attend events and activities, as well as come to meetings, where they can get involved in decision-making and event organising. Please feel welcome to get as involved as much as you wish - we are a friendly organisation and we try to have a relaxed attitude. It's success relies on the goodwill of many and through team work we are able to organise a variety of great events. We have a couple of meetings every term and take it in turns to organise events. We hold a Christmas Event, Easter Fair, Summer Fair, Campathon, sponsored events and this year we are looking to organise some more adult events!
A way to help immediately!
Easyfundraising - This is an app or website that by clicking through for almost any online ordering, be it Tesco or your holiday will earn money for the school. It's very easy to do and will take you through to your accounts with just one extra click.
Please do chat to any of us if you have any questions or ideas - we are always happy to have new input.
We look forward to meeting new parents soon and catching up with you all around school and at our welcome event that we will hold early in the new term.

Spring Term Update
Just a quick update from The Friends to give you all a heads up on what we’ve been up to and what we have planned for the forthcoming terms. A massive thank you to all involved in the organising and those who came along and supported the Christmas Fair, we raised around £2500, with this and the Film Clubs, Cake Raffles, Disco, Auction of Promises night in the first term this year we have already raised approximately £9000 which is amazing, thank you all for your hard work and support.
Every year we have an already agreed amount of spending with the school of approximately £5600. This is for Bucks Grid for Learning, School Library Service, Individual class funds, School Christmas tree and Golden Ticket prizes. In addition to this so far this school year the Friends have also funded the following:
Primary Languages – This has great schemes for both German and Spanish, which will enhance the learning of a modern foreign language within the school. The additional resources offered will be available to use in both the classroom with the children, also by the children on the computers. Although initially it will be used for KS2, as they are the ones being taught these languages, it will also offer teaching resources for KS1 and Reception.
Purple Mash - This offers various learning opportunities from many of the subjects taught at school; English, Maths, Science, Computing, Art and Technology. There is also an area called minimash on the website that is aimed at the EYFS children to access. This can be used at both home and school by the children. More information on this will follow when implemented by the school. We have also purchased a new oven for the school that we will use for film club but also so the children can cook as part of their learning, outside play equipment and storage and contributed to school clubs such as buying items for gardening club.
Due to this half term being so short we are unable to hold a film club before half term. Therefore the next film club will be on Friday 8th March .
Our Easter Fair this year is to be held after school on Thursday 4th April with a mufti day for Easter eggs on the same day. Each of the classes run a stall of their choice, if you are able to help out at all please let us know.
School Disco will be on Friday 5 th April. Following some behavioural issues that we had at the last disco, it has been decided to change the year groups to be as follows: YR, Y1 and Y2 will be from 5.30-6.45pm and Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 will be from 7-8.30pm.
On Saturday May 11 th we will be holding a Quiz and Curry night for adults. This was a popular event when it was held previously so we are hoping to replicate this with a fun filled evening so get your babysitters booked in.
Further in the distance our Summer Fair is on Saturday 22 rd June and the ever popular Campathon over the weekend of 6 th/7th July.

Moving on I would also like to take this opportunity to let you all know that due to other commitments I am stepping down as Chair of the Friends and moving forward it will be headed by a team of Nikki Cory, Lynsey Everett and Cassie Kielkowicz. I would like to thank them for taking on the role and wish them every success. If you are interested in joining them or taking on the role of Chair, please speak to me or any one of them. With children moving up through the school and off to secondary school we will also be looking for someone to take over as Treasurer very soon so again please do come forward if you are willing to take on this role. For those of you who are not aware we have a Facebook page called Friends of Monks Risborough School where we will communicate all events and pleas for help, hopefully this alongside the usual communications sent out on our behalf by the office will help some people be aware of what’s going on.
